CELEBRATION of SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING
May 5, 2018, 2-4pm
D&R Greenway Johnson Education Center,
Princeton, NJ
Each spring, we host a celebration to recognize and reflect on what it means to self-direct one’s own education. We invite a variety of teens, parents, volunteers, and board members to speak on what self-direction means to them, and we recognize one person from our larger community who we feel exemplifies a self-directed life.
At the 2018 celebration we will be honoring Princeton Choose founders Priya Vulchi and Winona Guo with the Self-Directed Learning Award. As a self-directed project while still in high school, Priya and Winona created The Classroom Index,
a K-12 educator resource for racial literacy. They are currently touring all 50 states, talking about their project and gathering stories about people's experiences with race for their next book, The Race Index.
We encourage all to attend, and to consider making a donation to support our centers which make self-directed learning a viable option for teens.
